Join a great team and a great culture as a Staff Accountant with a Cincinnati-based real estate firm. The Staff Accountant Position will be an integral part of the team, providing diversified support to the Operations Accounting Team. The primary purpose of this position will be to compile and maintain the financial information utilized as a basis for serving the financial, tax, and administrative interests of the family and their related entities.

This position will be responsible for 15-20 entities. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

In this role, the ideal candidate will be dynamic and versatile. The candidate will not only have a strong finance and accounting background, but they can harness the knowledge to navigate complex financial issues to find creative solutions. The ideal candidate will be willing to dive deep into the details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.


Duties and Responsibilities - The Staff Accountant’s Contributions to the team:

  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for responsible entities. 
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, revenue, notes payable, and other debt obligations. 
  • Ability to manage cash balances of several entities with ongoing expenses. Complete transfers within respective banking portals to remedy cash shortfalls or satisfy intercompany payables/receivables when necessary.
  • Provide and perform accounting for entities, including preparation of journal entries and cash receipts into the general ledger. 
  • Reconcile monthly bank/brokerage statements, including downloading/filing online bank statements and tax documents from bank websites.
  • Monitor investment account activity and accurately record sale transactions, payment of dividends and interest, and other marketable security activity as needed.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual operating budgets. 
  • Support management and other internal team members on special projects and request specific information and analysis as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements – What you’ll need to be successful

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting Preferred) or equivalent practical experience
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Detail-oriented and highly organized
  •  Demonstrates ability to assume ownership, work independently, and achieve results.
  •  Knowledge of information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Prior experience using Sage Intacct, Nexus, and Domo is a plus.
  •  Highest standard of integrity, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism
